SELVIN TURNER, DECEMBER 1, 1951 - SEPTEMBER 22, 2021

Selvin Deleno Turner, (Sal) 69 of East Hartford, CT departed this life, Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at home.

Deleno was born December 1,1951 in Hartford, CT to the late Selvin Turner, Jr. and Ira Thomas Turner. He was a graduate of Weaver High School, where he enjoyed playing football. Following graduation, he married Diane O’Bryant and to this union, Selvin D. Tuner, Jr. was born. Deleno was employed by the Hartford Times, Hartford Hospital and Hartford National Bank and retired from Pratt and Whitney, after forty years as Machine Repair Specialist.

Deleno had a passion for traveling, gourmet cooking, fine dining, unique cars and gadgets. He loved to entertain, demonstrating his gourmet cooking skills. Nothing excited him more than family gatherings and the annual Christmas barbecue, at his cousin’s house. He was often seen around town in his yellow Crossfire Roadster, kayaking, or an afternoon ride down by the riverside on his scooter, watching the boats sail by or the people enjoying the waves. He was a unique dresser and had a style of his own. Deleno was an avid music lover with a collection of old 45s and LPs. He loved smooth jazz, old school R&B and later found an appreciation for gospel music, of which he often shared with family and friends.

Deleno is survived by his sons, Selvin D. Turner, Jr. (Rosa) of Manchester, CT and Devin Jarvis Turner and his mother, Wanda Engermann of Windsor, CT, granddaughter, Chardonai Turner of Manchester, CT, step grandchildren, KJ and Taeler Cruz of Manchester, CT. He also leaves his god sister, Wanda Ware Woodard, (Theaophlias) of Bloomfield, CT, god brothers, Carl Neal of Hartford, CT, Shawn Britto of Antioch, CA. his aunt, Ora Ware of Bloomfield, CT, special friends, Carolyn Adams, Myeicka Gittens, Michelle Dudley of Hartford, CT and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
