Darwin Jones

The union of Johnny Lee Jones and Rose Marie Gomez produced a baby boy named Darwin Devonne Jones on June 6, 1952 in Hartford, CT. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. During his childhood Darwin excelled in sports and loved basketball. He attended Weaver High where he was a star athlete. Darwin went to Shoreline College in Seattle, WA. He returned to Hartford, where he attended many trade schools. He excelled in mechanical engineering and went on to work for various companies, Pratt & Whitney and Hamilton Standard. On July 29, 1982 Rev. Jones married Antoinette (Toni) Jones. In 1994 Darwin and Toni relocated to Houston, TX where Darwin worked diligently for National Oil Well and Caterpillar until his retirement. Darwin's love for the Lord never wavered, he took on his assignments to preach the word when he was ordained in 1994. Darwin Pastored Hosanna Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX. He went on to be the Assistant Minister at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Darwin ended his Christian Fellowship with Pastor Ralph Douglas West and The Church without Walls. Darwin traveled the world and took many pictures which was his passion (photography). He loved fishing and hunting, but most of all Darwin loved the Lord and his companion in life Toni. Darwin was a kind and compassionate man to everyone he met. Darwin Jones transitioned into eternal rest on December 30, 2014. He was preceded in death by his mother Rose M. Gomez, his brothers Derrick Jones and Marshall Shannon, his sister Josette Summers and nephew Bryan Gomez. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 32 years Toni Jones, a loving son Charles Q. Jones. His grandchildren: Quinnesha, Anthony, and Noni; his father Johnny Lee Jones, loving step-mother Ruth Jones. Three brothers Rick Gomez, Glenn Jones and Juan Jones; two sisters Terri McNair and Nichole Jones, a host of nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at The Church Without Walls, 5725 Queenston Houston, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 10th at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 20 Battles St Hartford. Interment will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
